Finished Running in! Great Service from Warren Court Rotaries
Hi All,
Just come back from Warren Court Rotaries aft er my post run in check over and oil change after 1000 miles following my rebuild.
The car feels fantastic, kept below 4k revs for 1000 miles and am slowly increasing now for the next 500 miles or so.
I wrote a post following the rebuild to praise the service from Steve and Pete at Warren Court Rotaries and after today i feel like i should post another! Their customer service really is first class and the best i have experienced as a customer of any business for a long time.
Pete took care of my oil change today and noticed that my front pads were low so had those done too. Steve compression tested the car and i was really chuffed to see mid 7's evenly across both rotors after only 1000 miles since rebuild.
Also had my cd head unit changed as it has been playing around for ages.
Steve even went to the chippy and treated me to lunch!
Can't recommend Warren Court Rotarie s highly enough, thanks Steve and Pete. Looking forward to many more happy years with the rex.
Cheers!

Thoughts On 2 years of Mazda Rx8 Ownership by OliTDavis
I should really have joined the club before or soon after I bought my car but I didn't even think to look into owners clubs until recently. So much useful info though. In all honesty I bought the car as a cheap and fun commuter that I didn't want to think too much about back in June 2014. It's a late 2008 S1 with 27,000 miles on the clock at time of purchase. Soon after I took it to Steve at Warren Court Rotaries (fant astic guy) who did a service and compression test. Result was he thought it was a great car and compression was:
Front Rotor faces sitting at 7.45, 7.4, 7.4 bar and rear rotor faces at 8.0, 7.8 and 7.6 bar. Normalized to 250 RPM (actual cranking 236 RPM). Very happy. And relieved since I bough privately!
Over the next 20 months I did nearly 18,000 miles mostly on motorways (45 mile daily commute) with very few short journeys and plenty of 'spirited' driving. Had one service at Mazda who I thought were useless and promised myself Steve at Warrant Court would see it from then on. With that in mind I took it to him in February this year for a full service including compression test (plus gearbox oil, diff oil etc...). Anyway up to this point all I had done is change the oil twice, obviously keep it topped up but had not bothered premixing (yet) so the results of the latest compression test were interesting at 44,000 miles:
Front rotor faces 7.53, 7.4 and 7.41 bar and rear rotor faces 7.6, 7.43 and 7.35 bar. Again properly normalized to 250 RPM with actual cranking of 235 RPM.
Now, I think that is very good indeed and confirms to me that the RX8 copes very well with fast, long journeys. It seems that the compression relaxes to mid 7's fairly early on and stays there if all is well. Needless to say I have come to regard the car as far more than just a cheap commuter now and have started premixing in the last couple of months and I took it back to Steve a couple of weeks back for D585 coils and new plugs. Car otherwise is standard.
On the way to work this morning I had a little fun with a 2 year old BMW 330d saloon (258bhp model) . The RX8 was faster around a long sweeping bend and full throttle out of the corner (both cars) the BMW could only just (and I mean just) pull away. And this was at 'naughty' speeds. I hadn't really felt the RX8 was overly quick but I think it is deceptive, especially at higher speed. Character of the engine I think.
Anyway, my conclusion is that I can't think of a better sports car for the money and that Warren Court Rotaries are a very good outfit.
